East Lansing, Mich. – The Studio Performing Arts Center is more than a local dance studio. With two
generations of expertise in voice, musical theatre and dance, The Studio wants to share the performing arts with the Greater Lansing community. Attendees of The Studio’s community-wide event will experience a variety of 20-minute introductory classes free of charge in many styles of dance, as well as singing and acting.

Finding Your Forte: A Sample of The Studio is on Nov. 10 at The Studio Performing Arts Center, 5015 Park Lake Rd., East Lansing, Mich. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. followed by a welcome from Van Voorhees and Assiff at 1 p.m. To register early, please call The Studio at 517-366-4088.

Studio Owner Patrice “P.K.” Van Voorhees grew up studying ballet, tap and jazz with her mother, Theda Assiff, founder of Assiff Studio of Dance. Although Assiff sold her East Lansing business after 50 years of famed instruction, she says she feels lucky to continue teaching at a studio close to her heart. Today, Assiff only teaches a handful of classes, but her expert influence is present throughout The Studio’s curriculum. This mother-daughter duo invites people of all ages to Finding Your Forte: A Sample of The Studio, where they aim to showcase two generations of passion for instructing the arts.
“Not only do the performance arts allow students to express themselves artistically, but the arts also
increase strength and fitness, develop spatial awareness, improve communication skills, teach
improvisation, while fostering perseverance and dedication,” said Van Voorhees.

Participants of all ages will receive a gift bag and be entered into a raffle for T-shirts and a Bottoms Up:
Dancewear & Activewear gift certificate. Tour The Studio, meet the instructors, and learn about The
Studio’s mission to help all students discover their unique talents. Families are welcome and parents are encouraged to take classes with their children.

No matter your forte, The Studio Performing Arts Center is the perfect place to be!
