Miss Michigan, Haley Williams, will be at one of mid-Michigan’s most popular races, Ele’s Race, on Sunday, July 28 at 9:00 a.m. held at Jackson National Life Insurance Company in Okemos.  Haley will speak to participants about her personal platform of "Conquering Childhood Grief,” and the struggles she experienced after the death of her father when she was five years old.

The certified 5k event welcomes serious and casual runners, walkers, families and teams to participate.  The event includes fun for the whole family with a Playmakers Kids Mile, 100 yard Kids Dash, face painting, entertainment, and prizes for the top five finishers in all divisions, plus prizes for top teams.

Registration for individuals and teams is available on-line at www.elesplace.org.  The last chance to register will be at packet pickup on Saturday, July 27, 12:00 – 5:00 pm at Ele’s Place, 1145 West Oakland Avenue.  Registration fees are waived and prizes awarded for those who collect donations. Individual fee - $30, Family Fee - $65 (up to 5 immediate family members).

A new opportunity to remember a loved one at the race is by dedicating a Memory Heart with a $20 donation. Memory Hearts can be personalized with a name, photo, message or drawing in memory of a loved one to be placed along the "memory mile" at the Ele's Race 5K. Hearts are available at Ele's Place M-F 9am-5pm, can be purchased when you register online, at packet pick-up, or Ele's Race on Sunday, July 28

Proceeds from this event benefit Ele’s Place, a healing center for grieving children and teens, which provides peer support groups to help children cope with the death of a parent, sibling or other loved one.  Each week, Ele’s Place serves more than 200 children and their family members at no cost.  If you are unable to participate but would like to help, you can register to volunteer or make a donation online at www.elesplace.org.
