Prime Cuts and the Food Network's 'Chopped' contestant, Krissy Kerwin, are hosting a fundraiser for Carter Buffum on Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5th. Chef Kerwin will prepare and serve her Mexican Posole for customers to purchase in support of the Buffum family.

Carter suffers from Mitochondrial Disease. This life threatening disease affects his cognitive abilities and GI system. Carter cannot walk, talk or eat most foods like other children his age. He is completely dependent upon thirteen medications per day to sustain his young life. There is no cure or treatment for his disease. Children like Carter, who are diagnosed with Mitochondrial disease don’t live long enough to enjoy their teen years.

The Buffum family would appreciate donations to help with their enormous medical and surgery debt. Carter and his Mom and Dad travel to and from Mott’s Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor quite frequently. Gasoline expenses are also very much appreciated.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will be given to Carter's family to cover his medical expenses and transportation to Mott Children's Hospital. Additional donations are appreciated and accepted at Prime Cuts if you are unable to make it to the event.

Prime Cuts is located at 1821 Horton Road in Jackson, Michigan.
