Lansing's First Fridays Offers Activites and Attractions for All Ages
LANSING, Mich.,--On August 2, 2013, the Greater Lansing areas will be hosting First Fridays. First Fridays creates a fun atmosphere for people of all ages looking for a day out on the town, but don't want to spend a lot of money. The variety of specials is what makes this First Fridays a unique event.
Last month, the Lansing Lugnuts participated in First Fridays, offering buy one get one free tickets to anyone who mentioned First Fridays. This month, First Fridays has recruited a few more businesses, one being Capital City Scoop. Their special is a pretty sweet deal--a giant banana split for only $3.00.
The First Fridays event encourages shops, galleries, restaurants, and family events throughout the Greater Lansing area to feature unique specials, extended hours, special events and entertainment. First Fridays encourages more people to get out and explore everything that Greater Lansing has to offer. This initiative is designed to add interest to the region, raise awareness of its offerings and to spur economic development by attracting more people to local businesses.
In order to make sure everyone can make it out on First Fridays, all CARA bus service underwritten by Team Lansing Foundation and MSU Federal Credit Union, will be free beginning at 7:00p.m. until end of regular service on First Fridays. This includes fixed-route buses and Spec-Tran. The Entertainment Express trolleys will also be running for free beginning at 5:30p.m. The trolleys run from downtown Lansing to downtown East Lansing every half hour until 2:30a.m.
What makes Lansing First Fridays unique and different than other cities' First Fridays, along with having free transportation, is the eclectic mix of businesses and events that Greater Lansing provides. There is a wide-array of monthly specials that span across many venues, from nightlife, to dining, galleries, baseball games, concerts, plays, and more that are appropriate for all ranges of audiences.
