The Children’s Ballet Theatre of Michigan is preparing for the Summer 2013 season by arranging a tour of theatres and festivals around the state. CBT has been performing around the state of Michigan for over 10 years, delighting audiences everywhere. Director Gregory M. George and the parent-led executive board have reached out to several new venues in an effort to share his visions with a much larger community.

Confirmed ballet performances include The Jazz Fest in Lansing’s Old Town on August 4th, St. Johns Mint Festival August 10th and 11th, Dewitt Ox Roast August 17, STARS (Sault Theatre Arts Resource Studios) in Sault Ste. Marie on August 22nd, Bay View Association John Hall Auditorium August 23rd, and Cheboygan Opera House August 24th.

Gregory George said, “We are excited to expand our performance calendar this year. It’s a great line up of events and we’re honored to present to these audiences.”

This summer, CBT will dedicate their tour to local foundation Friends of Charlie. (http://friendsofcharlie.com/) The mission brings light to the plight of five-year old Charlie Waller of East Lansing, Michigan. He was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, an inoperable brain stem cancer that afflicts mostly young children. With no cure to this rare childhood cancer, the company at CBT was happy pledge their support. The company hopes to select a local non-profit every summer to share their revenue with.

CBT is a premiere audition-based company comprised of 51 dancers ages 8-18 who reside in Ingham, Eaton, Clinton, Jackson, Shiawassee and other outlying Counties. The company performs The Nutcracker Ballet yearly at the Michigan State University Wharton Center for Performing Arts over Thanksgiving weekend and a full-length ballet production every spring at Holt High School Theater in Holt, Michigan.
