Croswell Announces Open Auditions

The Croswell in Adrian, Michigan will hold auditions for two musical productions on July 13 from 12:00 Noon– 3:00pm and on July 21 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Any necessary callbacks will be held on July 27 at 10am.

All auditioners are required to sing a vocal selection 16 – 32 bars in length, and should provide their own sheet music. An accompanist will be provided.  Additionally, all should come prepared to learn a short dance combination. Shows to be cast from this audition include: All Shook Up, (Production Dates: September 20 – 29); and Sweeney Todd (Production Dates: October 11-20);

All members of Croswell artistic teams are committed to the practice of flexible, imaginative casting. We encourage actors of all ethnicities and backgrounds to participate in our audition process. Reasonable accommodations will be made for anyone requiring special needs. Generally, the Croswell does not pay for participation in performances. We do, however, produce beyond expectations, with full lavish sets and costumes, and regional theatre quality in a friendly community theatre environment.

All Shook Up

Great ready to shake things up with this great musical full of the hits Elvis Presley made famous. All Shook Up takes us back to 1955 small town America, where one girl’s dream and a visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar playing stranger, help the town discover the magic of romance and the power of rock & roll.

Some of the hits included in the score are “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Love Me Tender,” and “Don’t Be Cruel.”

Available Roles Include:

Natalie Haller (early 20’s): A mechanic
Chad (Elvis): a great looking, motorcycle riding, guitar playing, leather-jacketed roustabout
Jim Haller (mid 40’s – 50’s): Natalie’s widowed father
Sylvia: the no-nonsense owner of Sylvia’s Honky-Tonk. May be played by an African-American actress.
Lorraine: Sylvia’s 16 year-old daughter
Dennis: a young, awkward, aspiring dentist
Miss Sandra: beautiful, intellectual. She is the caretaker of the town’s museum
Mayor Matilda Hyde: the town’s conservative mayor.
Dean Hyde: Matilda’s 16 year-old son. He has grown up at a military boarding school
Sheriff Earl: A man of few words, he is the law in town.
Ensemble of townspeople fill several other roles.
 


Sweeney Todd

The rare instance of a musical thriller, Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s chilling, suspenseful, heart-pounding masterpiece tells the infamous tale of the unjustly exiled barber who returns to 19 seeking revenge. Macabre and uncompromising, Sweeney Todd also has a great sense of fun, mixing intense drama with moments of dark humor. The role of Sweeney Todd has already been cast.

Available Roles Include:

Mrs. Lovett: An entrepreneurial and amoral meat pie shop owner. She falls in love with Todd and turns his desire for revenge into a profitable business venture. (Female: 35-50/Range: G3-E5)

Adolfo Pirelli: A flamboyant Italian rival barber; a charlatan with a secret past. (Male: 30-45/Range: BR-C5)

Anthony Hope: A naive and youthful sailor returning to London. He helps Todd return to London and unexpectedly falls in love with Johanna. (Male: 20-30/Range: Bb2-F4)

Beggar Woman: A deranged and schizophrenic woman who harbors a dark, surprising secret. (Female: 35-50/Range: Ab3-F5)

Johanna: A spritely girl, full of innocence, constantly yearning for freedom. Todd's long-lost daughter and Turpin's ward. (Female: 18-25/Range: Bb3-A5)

Jonas Fogg: The owner of Fogg's Asylum. He sells the hair of madmen to wigmakers. (Male: 35-60/Speaking Role)

Judge Turpin: A lecherous public official who portrays himself as a sanctimonious authoritarian. He takes advantage of his position in the city and is responsible for imprisoning Todd. (Male: 50-64/Range: E2-Gb4)

The Beadle A pompous public official. He is deeply loyal to the corrupt Turpin.(Male: 45-55/Range: D3-D5)

Tobias Ragg: A poor youngster apprenticed to Pirelli. He finds a surrogate family in Todd and Lovett. (Male: 12-18/Range: Bb2-Ab4)
