DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Red Wings are rolling out the red carpet - literally - for their final home opener at Joe Louis Arena.
Ahead of Detroit's game against the Ottawa Senators Monday night, fans are lining Steve Yzerman Drive to see their favorite players arrive at the arena.
Red Wings players shared their thoughts and memories with reporters Monday morning.
"We want to close out The Joe right, and it starts tonight," said forward Drew Miller. "I think everyone's energized and ready to go."
"Throughout the season, as you're looking around and enjoying the experience, hopefully sending The Joe out on on a good note," added forward Justin Abdelkader.
The red carpet event is the first of several events planned for the "Farewell Season at The Joe."
