Detroit Lions penalized 17 times in loss to Tennessee Titans

DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Tennessee Titans topped the Detroit Lions 16-15 Sunday afternoon in the Lions' home opener.

Penalties and injuries dominated the talk of the game, with the Lions being penalized 17 times totaling 138 yards.

Ziggy Ansah and Antoine Williams both suffered injuries in the game and did not return, while other players were also were injured.

The Lions opened the scoring with a safety on the Titans' second drive on the game, and scored on the ensuing drive on a 24-yard pass from Matthew Stafford to Anquan Boldin.

The teams switched field goals, and the Lions took a 12-3 lead into halftime.

After halftime, they kicked another field goal, giving them a 15-3 lead, before Tennessee scored a touchdown cutting the lead to 15-10.

The Titans took a 16-15 lead with just over a minute left in the game as Andre Johnson caught a pass from Marcus Mariota.

On the final drive, Stafford threw an interception as he led the team on a comeback drive, ending the game.
