Lansing Symphony Orchestra (LSO) celebrates the music of Broadway with the much-anticipated production of Broadway Rocks!, including more than 15 crowd favorites for a one-night only performance! On Saturday, Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. at Wharton Center’s Cobb Great Hall, the LSO will be joined by Tony Award Nominee Christiane Noll, American Idol finalist LaKisha Jones and Trans-Siberian Orchestra member Rob Evan. The concert includes unforgettable selections from Tony Award winning musicals such as Wicked, Rent, Phantom of the Opera, Hairspray and more, some sung by the MSU Youth Chorale (directed by Kyle Zeuch, Director of the Children and Youth Choir Program at MSU Community Music School) in addition to the guest vocalists! Tickets are available by calling the box office at 517-487-5001 or online at www.LansingSymphony.org.

Known as “one of the most versatile actresses in the American Musical Theatre,” Christiane Noll has received critical acclaim for her varied repertoire in Broadway, opera and jazz. Winner of the Ovation Award and Helen Hayes Award, Noll was nominated for both a Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for her portrayal of Mother in Ragtime. Noll’s Broadway debut was in Jekyll & Hyde, creating the role of Emma, and she performed in the American premier of The Witches of Eastwick as the character Jane Smart. Besides the Broadway stage, Noll has appeared with many symphony orchestras worldwide, and has had a successful career in opera, debuting in The Merry Widow with the Washington National Opera. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, other successes include a solo show, founding member of Midtown Direct Rep. Theater Company, and the release of five solo CDs in addition to other recordings.

Best known to millions of TV viewers as a top four finalist during the 2007 season of American Idol, LaKisha Jones grew up in Flint, MI, raised by her grandmother and mother. Exposed to legendary singers such as Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle, Jones was determined to make a career onstage and left University of Michigan after only two years to follow her dream. She segued from Idol to the Broadway stage for The Color Purple where she played the pivotal character “Sophia.” Following her Broadway stint Jones provided vocal coaching on MTV’s reality competition Legally Blonde: The Search for Elle Woods, a show designed to find and hone Broadway’s next star.

During the span of his diverse career, Rob Evan has performed in seven leading roles on the New York Stage including the original Broadway cast of Jekyll & Hyde, playing the title roles for three years and over 1,000 performances worldwide. As a vocalist and recording artist, Evan is a member of the multi-platinum-selling rock band, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. In addition to soloing with leading symphony orchestras, Evan conceived, co-created (with Maestro Randall C. Fleischer) and stars in ROCKTOPIA, a new Classical/Classic Rock fusion concert event that is currently touring worldwide.
