Spartan Stadium to Get $20 Million Renovation
Extreme stadium makeover. Michigan State University unveiled the new plans for Spartan Stadium Friday, and as Josh Sidorowicz reports, the college is hoping the renovations will intice athletic recruits.
It's a 20 million dollar project planning to transform the front of Spartan Stadium. it's an upgrade and an expansion that's been long overdue according to university athletics officials. "This area has not been addressed since the 1960's and if you don't stay on top of these types of renovations, what you find yourself having is getting way behind the times, and you're having to play catch-up."
Renovations that arset to include upgrades to locker room facilities, plus a new media room and what Hollis calls a "recruitment engagement center." All in the name of ensuring continued recruitment of the best athletes in the Big Ten. general entrance for the stadium than they've had in the past. "The goal is to win games, and if this increase our chances at succeeding then why not, let's go for it."
Officials expect the project will get the official green light for approval next month with construction beginning shortly after. The entire expansion is expected to be done by this time next year. We're told it won't interfere with the footbal season this fall.
