Skywriting Stunt Response Exceeds Fundraising Goal
The message in the sky over the Lansing area two weeks ago on game day sparked confusion, anger, but more importantly, inspiration.
MSU Vice President of Alumni Relations Scott Westerman encouraged people to donate funds to ovarian cancer research.
Westerman's wife is a two-time survivor.
Donations have exceeded expectations.
A fundraising campaign inspired by the "Go Blue" skywriting stunt has surpassed its goal of $3,000 for cancer research.
According to the Michigan State University alum Scott Westerman, who rallied the community to donate, more than $40,000 has been raised for ovarian cancer research.
The University of Michigan's athletic department paid to have the message written in the sky above southeast Michigan earlier this month.
