Harlem Globetrotters Let the 'Fans Rule' at the Breslin Center
The Harlem Globetrotters are returning to East Lansing and taking the Breslin Center by storm! They are taking fan interaction to a new level in their 2014 "Fans Rule" World Tour on Friday, January 24 at 7:30PM.
The Globetrotters was the first organization in sports and entertainment to let fans vote on rules. The team introduced the concept last year and since the fan response was so overwhelming, the team is doing it again--but with a major twist.
As part of the "Fans Rule" tour, fans will have the opportunity to choose which new game-changing rules they want to see in their hometown. The 2014 online ballot includes three never-before-seen revolutionary rules:
Hot Hand Jersey -- Both teams will be given a “Hot Hand Jersey” they can pass among each other. The player who is wearing this jersey will receive double points on baskets made.
Make or Miss -- The quarter begins with only two players on the court for each team. When a team scores, a teammate may enter the game. When they miss, the player who missed the shot must leave the court, leaving his or her teammates shorthanded.
Trick Shot Challenge -- Via three challenge flags per team, each coach can challenge the other team to make a trick shot. If the team makes the trick shot, they earn five points. If they miss, the other team receives five points.
The roster showcases many basketball stars including Flight Time. Flight Time acquired his name when the owner of the Globetrotters thought that Flight Time should get frequent flyer miles for his jumping game. Flight Time tells FOX 47 that his favorite rule is the one that fans have been picking most all year--Trick Shot Challenge.
The Globetrotters is a one-of-a-kind family show that you won't want to miss.
