Michigan State University has reached a milestone this semester.
Enrollment has reached the 48,000 mark for the first time since it was founded in 1855. According to the Office of the Registrar, there are 48,906 students this fall -- almost a thousand more than last year.
MSU's freshman class also set a new record this year, with nearly 8100 students.
