Before the season, the Spartan football players had their sights set on the National Championship. This wasn't just a bunch of talk - they truly believed that they had chance to be in Miami come January.

But all that was erased Saturday night by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who dominated the line of scrimmage and did exactly what head coach Brian Kelly wanted: they shut down the Spartan run game and then hit a couple of big plays offensively.

MSU fell 11 spots in the AP Poll to 21. No one wearing green and white was pleased with the performance Saturday night.

Coach Mark Dantonio and quarterback, Junior Andrew Maxwell, both had much to say following the game.
