MSU Community Music School Holding Open House
EAST LANSING, Mich. – All are invited to attend the MSU Community Music School (CMS) open house Sun., September 9, 3–5 p.m. and learn more about the classes and lessons offered to students of all ages – birth through adulthood.
The open house will include early childhood music demonstrations at 3:15 p.m. and 4 p.m., and a beginning strings demonstration at 3:45 p.m. Throughout the open house, there will be walk-in auditions for the children and youth choirs, walk-in music therapy sessions and an instrument petting zoo, which will give those in attendance the opportunity to try various instruments. Refreshments will be provided courtesy of Melting Moments.
“The Community Music School has something for everyone and the open house is a great time to check out CMS programming. We offer programs for adults, teens and children with all levels of musical experience and with all levels of ability, including people withspecial needs,” said Jaime DeMott, Director of the Community Music School.
Students may enroll forclasses or lessons during the open house. CMS offerings include private andgroup lessons, adult and children’s choirs, early childhood music, folk music, music therapy, New Horizons Band, rock music, beat making, string ensemble, and Suzuki strings, piano, flute and harp.
CMS is located at 841-BTimberlane Street in East Lansing and is the outreach division of the MSU College of Music. The mission of CMS is to provide comprehensive music education – quality instruction, related music services, and educational programs – for interested individuals of all ages and levels with financial assistance for those in need.
