Downtown Neighborhood Association to Hold Meeting
The Downtown Neighborhood Association in Lansing is holding a meeting on plans for the old Genesee Street School Thursday. A new venture called "zero day" wants to buy the building to turn it into a working residence for U.S. veterans.
Vets would be trained to restore historic buildings, with the school being a teaching tool itself. The veterans would live on the second floor.
The meeting will also include details on the vacant land around Ottawa, Butler, and Ionia streets. The Michigan Association of Broadcasters wants to buy that land for its headquarters and community media center. The rest of the land will be single family homes.
You can learn more about these development proposals, and voice any concerns you might have Thursday night. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the Fireside Room at the old Genesee School.
