New Pope Selected in Vatican City

Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio has been named Pope. Bergoglio becomes the first Jesuit named Pope, and will be known as Pope Francis.
After days of nothing but black smoke coming from the chimney above the Sistine Chapel, a new Pope has been selected. The 266th Pontiff was selected in the Vatican City today, after 115 Roman Catholic cardinals met to decide who would become the leader of the world's nearly 2 billion Catholics.
UPDATE: Pope Francis was announced earlier today in front of a crowd eclipsing 100,000 in St. Peter's Square. He becomes the first Jesuit and first South American Pope. Pope Francis was introduced by proto-deacon Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, before addressing the masses for a few short minutes. He asked for prayers for the Pope emeritus, Benedict XVI before reciting The Lord's Prayer. He then offered his blessing "to you and to the whole world," before wishing the crowd "good night and good rest."
