More Sex-Offenders Will be on the Sex-Offender Registry
More sex offenders will now be on the sex offender registry, tier one offenders, those on the lowest level, now must sign on for their crimes which include unlawful imprisonment of a minor or knowingly having child porn.
The public list previously only included tier two and three offenders, people who kidnap someone under 18 or create child pornography.
The question now is if sex-offenders should pay for each year they're on the sex offender registry. A bill calling for that has been approved in a Senate committee. It would require offenders to pay 50 dollars every year.
They currently pay a one-time fee, the senate fiscal agency says it would increase revenue by more than a half-a-million dollars. The state pays 1.2 million dollars a year to operate the sex offender registry.
