Senator Carl Levin Announces Plans to Retire
Democratic Senator Carl Levin of Michigan has announced he will not seek re-election next year, opting instead to retire. Levin is the state's longest serving senator in Congress. He was elected in 1978. In a statement, the 78-year-old said the decision was "extremely difficult," adding "he loves representing the people of Michigan and fighting for what he believes is important to for them."
