Pellet Gun Looks Like Assault Rifle, Pointed at Deputy
BURNS TWP., SHIAWASSEE CO. - A man is arrested after pointing a pellet gun that looked like an assault rifle at a sheriff's deputy and others.
The incident happened Wednesday evening in the area of Brooks Road and Riniel Road in Burns Township, Shiawassee County. Deputies were called there on reports of a man driving by a home, shouting and pointing a gun out the window of his vehicle.
According to a press statement from the Shiawasseee County Sheriff's Office, as deputies patrolled the area, the man returned to the home, got out of the vehicle, and pointed "what was later discovered to be a pellet rifle fashioned to resemble an assault rifle at a deputy and the reporting parties."
The deputy moved everyone to cover while calling for more help. When other deputies arrived they were able to arrest the man without further incident.
The 43-year-old man is being held in jail, and is expected to be charged with felonious assault.
