Blackman-Leoni Township Police are asking people to come forward with information as they investigate 54-year-old Geoffrey Friant.

He's charged with 11 counts of criminal sexual conduct against three victims, all under the age of 16 and at least one was younger than 13.

"Blackman-Leoni Township Detectives are asking for assistance for additional witnesses that may have some information concerning the charge crimes," said Jerard Jarzynka the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney.

The alleged crimes cover a ten year period. If convicted, Friant's maximum penalty would be life in prison.

This is not Friant's first encounter with the law. In 1979 and then again in 2003 he was convicted of attempted criminal sexual conduct.

The prosecutor is glad to have Friant behind bars.

"We are prosecuting this case aggressively. It's still under investigation. We are looking for additional information from any citizens who may have that to help in the case."

Pending his court proceedings, Friant is being held at the Jackson County jail off Wesley Street.

Because the current case is still being investigated, the Jackson County Prosecutor's office can't say why investigators think Friant has more victims or what he's accused of doing.

Friant is being held without bond, which is rare.

"Given the seriousness of the charges involved, and the number of charges, that certainly is good reason to reach that decision on bond," said Jarzynka.

We attempted to talk to detectives on the case, but they were unavailable.

Friant's preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 22nd.

If you have information about Friant or his alleged sex crimes please call the Blackman-Leoni Township Police Department of Public Safety at 517-990-9700.
