Man Charged with Setting Fire to his Estranged Wife's Home
A St. Johns man faced a judge Wednesday, accused of setting his wife's home on fire.
23-year-old Cody Haubert is accused of setting his estranged wife's house ablaze the morning of January 26. Haubert was arraigned on one count of arson, one count of stalking, and one count of malicious destruction of property.
No one was in the residence at the time. The fire was discovered when the female occupant came home.
The fire occurred in the 700 block of North Clinton Ave. around 5:45 a.m. Saturday. Firefighters were on the scene for eight hours, and discovered the fire was set in two different places.
Police are calling this a "domestic situation."
About $50,000 worth of damage was done.
