Walmart Donates Big Money to Food Bank Council of Michigan
Thousands of people across Michigan won't have to worry about their next meal, thanks to Walmart.
The chain store made a 100,000-dollar contribution to the Food Bank Council of Michigan Thursday. That money will help provide 500,000 meals around the state, and recipients say the generosity will go a long way.
"It shows their deep commitment to the community, but it also lets everyone know that there are corporate entities in Michigan that care about the people and the workers, the hungry, the handicapped, and people like you and me that are having some tough economic times," said Kareemah El-Amin, executive director of the Food Bank Council of Michigan.
Besides donating money, Walmart often donates food directly to area food banks.
