Bridge Work on I-496 Starts Monday
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will make improvements to the Clemens Street bridge over I-496 beginning today.
The work is part of a larger project to repair 34 bridges along the I-496 corridor during the 2013 construction season between Clemens Street and Waverly Road.
On Monday, Jan. 7, there will be one lane closed in each direction on I-496 between 9 AM and noon so crews can set barrier wall and unload equipment near the Clemens Street bridge.
Once the barrier wall is in place, there will only be a shoulder closure on I-496 with intermittent nighttime and weekend closures under Clemens Street.
In addition, Clemens Street will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 9, with a detour posted. The local detour will include Aurelius Road, Mt. Hope Road, Cedar Street, and Kalamazoo Street.
