LANSING - A man who participated in a beating outside a downtown Lansing bar that led to a death was sentenced to at least 33 years in prison.

Donald Suttle Jr. received the 33-50 year sentence in a Lansing courtroom Wednesday morning. Suttle was convicted of second degree murder in the death of 30-year-old Travis Peterson outside Brannigan Brothers tavern on Washington Avenue in the early morning hours of News Year's day.

Suttle worked as a bouncer at Brannigan Brothers. Another man, Austin Smith, who also worked for Brannigan Brothers, is scheduled for trial in January.

Prosecutors say the men severely beat Peterson on a sidewalk, after Peterson was thrown out of the bar. Peterson, who suffered a skull fracture, died two days later.
