Another program helping Lansing families put toys under the tree this year is 'Operation Santa'.

Sparrow Hospital is helping 160 families and dozens of kids at Fairview Elementary School make sure they have gifts to open on Christmas morning.

The principal calls the support overwhelming.

"It's a wonderful gesture on Sparrow's part. Employees give of their own, go out and do the shopping for our students. So we're really pleased and grateful that they take this opportunity to take care of our families and do something really nice for our families during the holiday season," said Principal Terry Baker.

Sparrow Hospital started 'Operation Santa' 21 years ago with just 30 kids.
