A new facility in Jackson is giving new hope to sexual abuse victims and their families.

A dedication ceremony was held at the Child Advocacy Center on Wildwood Avenue Monday afternoon.

The building puts a variety of community resources under one roof, so a child doesn't have to re-tell their story to police, prosecutors, a judge and jury.

Collaborators tell us it was a long time coming.

"We're very excited at the prospect of helping kids who've been victims of sexual assault. Not only to help us in law enforcement to identify and prosecute perpetrators, but also to begin the healing process for those children," said Hank Zavislak, Jackson County prosecutor.

Several community organizations are behind this effort, with Catholic Charities heading it up.
