An Ingham County Circuit Court jury has returned an unanimous verdict against the Lansing Township Police Department in the amount of $1,604,950.

Carl Mennare filed the lawsuit after the car he was driving was slammed into by a Lansing Township police cruiser on March 6, 2009.

Officer Brett Ramsden was driving the cruiser. He was pulling out of his personal driveway on West St. Joseph Highway, but he was on the job at the time.

Mennare suffered a brain injury, lost his job and has been diagnosed as permanently disabled.

The case was tried over five days before the verdict was returned.
