The first week of a traffic safety initiative in Eaton County's Delta Township was a success.
Deputies made 122 traffic stops on Saginaw Highway, between Waverly and Nixon Roads, last week. Of the 122 stops, 36 drivers were given tickets, while 86 drivers were given verbal warnings. Deputies also made 6 arrests, on warrants and traffic-related offenses.
The Eaton County Sheriff's Office implemented the traffic safety project after learning 47% of the accidents in Delta Township so far this year have happened on that stretch of Saginaw Highway.
