Crash Leaves Truck Hanging on Overpass
A dramatic crash in Oregon, when a driver slams into a guard rail, leaving his truck dangling over the side of an overpass. It's hard to believe...but, the driver of this pick up truck is incredibly lucky. Despite dangling over the edge of the overpass, Matthew Hamilton is alive. Saved by a piece of metal hooked on to the truck's back axle.
Jones says: "all the traffic just stopped immediately and you know, I was trying to figure out what was going on and, um, that's when I started noticing the truck was going over the side."
Drivers climbed out of their cars below to stop traffic. Jones says: "his face was head-down into the, um, the air bag and when I noticed it, I was like, oh my god, did he die, did he pass out?"
Firefighters immediately went to work stabilizing the car chaining it to fire trucks. An officer on the scene told me at one point, Hamilton tried to climb out of the driver-side door but was told to stay put.
Four hours later, the car was finally lifted off the side and loaded onto tow-truck. A long day over for firefighters...Many of whom had never seen anything like this before. A look into Hamilton's records shows an extensive criminal history. He's also been arrested for reckless driving, assault and driving with a revoked license.
