Donald Suttle Convicted of Second Degree Murder
Donald Suttle faces up to life in prison after being found guilty of second degree murder late Tuesday afternoon. Sentencing has been set for December 19.
Suttle was one of four men, all employees of Brannigan Brothers bar in downtown Lansing, who chased down a bar patron and beat him in the early hours of New Year's Day.
The victim, 30-year-old Travis Peterson of Lansing, suffered severe skull and brain injuries. He died two days later.
Eyewitnesses say Suttle, who was working security at the Brannigan Brothers bar, used a police-style baton to beat Peterson.
The head of the security team, 31-year-old Austin Smith of Grand Ledge, has also been charged with murder and is expected to face trial in December.
The remaining two members of the bar's security team have not been charged.
