Lance Armstrong Severs Ties to Livestrong Organization
Though he originally said he'd stay involved with the organization after stepping down as chairman in the wake of his drug scandal, famed cyclist Lance Armstrong will no longer have any ties to Livestrong.
Armstrong has quit the board of his foundation - the latest in a string of events following the allegations of doping using performance-enhancing drugs during his career.
The seven Tour de France victories he accumulated were stripped earlier this fall.
In a statement by Livestrong's chairman Jeff Garvey, he stated: "We are deeply grateful to Lance for creating a cause that has served millions of cancer survivors and their families. We are beholden to the Armstrong family for the nearly $7 million in contributions throughout the foundation’s history. Lance Armstrong was instrumental in changing the way the world views people affected by cancer."
