Two-Year-Old Mauled to Death at Pittsburgh Zoo
Some sad news: a two-year-old boy was apparently mauled to death Sunday at the Pittsburgh Zoo after falling into an exhibit.
The zoo's president says a small child fell from a 14-foot-high observation deck into the African Painted Dogs exhibit and was immediately attacked by several of the dogs.
Zookeepers were able to clear most of the dogs away from the child. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports one of the dogs was shot and killed by police on the scene. The dogs are an endangered species.
The park shut down early Sunday until further notice, and the incident remains under investigation.
