Sparrow Celebrates 100 Years on Michigan Avenue
Sparrow Hospital is celebrating one hundred years on Michigan Avenue in Lansing.
The hospital is honoring the memory and legacy of Edward Sparrow, the man who donated land and money to build the hospital in 1912.
Decendents of Edward Sparrow came in from New York to celebrate over the weekend.
"He was a very generous man. He was very concerned about the people of Lansing and he dedicated the hospital to the people of Lansing," said Zoe Slagle of the Sparrow Womens Board of Managers at the event.
Edward Sparrow also gave money to Eli Olds to build Oldsmobile in Michigan.
