Downtown Lansing to Get Spooky on the Square

LANSING, MI- Downtown Lansing Inc. hosts its fifth annual Trick-or-Treat on the Square — a free, family-friendly Halloween event — on Monday, October 29 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Held on the 100 and 200 blocks of South Washington Square, Trick-or-Treat on the Square provides a safe, fun environment for Lansing-area families to celebrate Halloween. The evening features an exciting themed atmosphere, activities for all ages and, of course, trick-or-treating.

Live entertainment is featured throughout the evening including a strolling magician, stilt performers from the High 5 Stilt Guys of Joel Tacey’s Tip Top Entertainment, a nocturnal animal behaviors display from the Potter Park Zoo, hands-on activities from Impression 5 Science Center, Fire Dancers, and more!


Also included is a hay maze, “Thriller” dance, free hay rides, tours of a Lansing Fire and Lansing Police vehicles and the CATA Trolley, face painting and even a Tim Horton’s Timbit Eating Contest!

Stations on S. Washington Square will hand out candy, generously donated by Lansing area Wal-Marts, to the trick-or-treaters from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will also be served. Reflective trick-or-treat bags will be available on a first come, first serve basis at the Welcome Booth.

In the event of rain, Trick-or-Treat on the Square will be held on Tuesday, October 30 at the same time and location.

All activities at Trick-or-Treat on the Square are completely free thanks to the event sponsors: Gold Sponsor Lake Trust Credit Union, Silver Sponsor Michigan State Federal Credit Union, Bronze Sponsor Tim Hortons, Trick-orTreating Sponsor Lansing Area Wal-Marts, and the City of Lansing, CATA, Felske Farms, and Jammin DJ’s as contributing supporters.
