Detroit Tigers Game 4 Preview - Rescheduled for 4:07PM
Max Scherzer will start game 4 hoping to put a lid on the Yankees’ World Series dreams. With an improbable 3-0 series lead, the Tigers show no signs of slowing down. Detroit’s staff has been phenomenal while unlikely heroes have shined.
Pitchers Duel
Scherzer is set to face the BIG lefty CC Sabathia who is 3-0 with a 3.32 ERA against the Tigers this year. Sabathia is also 2-0 this postseason, with both of those starts coming against the Baltimore Orioles. However, if CC is to continue his dominance, the Yanks will need to provide some run support. In the last 2 games, New York has only put 1 run on the board.
Meanwhile, Max Scherzer, who will be pitching on 6 days rest, threw 5 and 1/3 scoreless innings last week against the Oakland Athletics. He exited with eight strikeouts in his first start since his time off due to shoulder problems.
Clutch Tigers
Delmon Young, Austin Jackson, Jhonny Peralta, and Avisail Garcia have been among the unsung heroes for Detroit. Young has an impressive 7 RBI in 8 games this postseason. He belted a solo home run last night to finally give the Tigers the lead. Austin Jackson is ranked amongst the leaders in doubles and runs while Peralta is leading the team in batting average, with an impressive mark of .333. Garcia is hitting .308 while knocking in 3 runs.
Prediction
It is hard to say who will win this likely pitcher’s duel. The momentum is swinging in Detroit’s favor, but the Yankees have not been swept in the playoffs since the 1980 ALCS.
Tune in tonight at 8pm to see the Detroit Tigers take on the New York Yankees at Comerica Park.
