A Lansing police officer is sentenced on a misdemeanor charge of impaired driving. Sgt. Todd Johnson, a 17-year veteran of the Lansing Police, was sentenced in Clinton County to pay $1,704 in fines and court costs.

Johnson was charged in August with operating while intoxicated after being involved in an accident with a cargo truck at Chandler and State Roads in DeWitt Township. He pleaded guilty to the slightly lesser charge in September.

Johnson was initially placed on paid administrative leave by the department, and is now working administrative duty. The police continue their own internal investigation, but expect that to conclude soon.
