Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth is warning people not to veer for deer.

They're on the move now that hunting season is underway. More than 53,000 accidents happened in Michigan involving deer last year. 1300 people were injured and eight people were killed.

The best way to avoid hitting deer is to keep your hands on the steering wheel, slow down, and stay in your lane.

Also -- flash your lights and honk your horn, too. It might scare the deer off the road.

And keep in mind -- deer travel together. Chances are if you see one, there's another one right behind it.
