October is here, and so is Breast Cancer Awareness month. One nurse at Sparrow Hospital is hoping her story encourages others to get regular screenings.

45-year-old Karrie Bosanic was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago, and has just finished chemo for the second time. She is the first person in her family to have cancer, and she wants people to know early screening and treament can save lives.

The White House is also pink to promote Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Pink lights will illuminate the North side of the White House through midnight. The annual tradition started under President George W. Bush in 2008.
