New Grassroots Effort Hopes to Boost Local Economy
It seems like more and more of us are trying to shop locally, and support local businesses. Here's a way to put a number on that goal. 'Shop Local Lansing' is a grassroots effort to get people to spend money in locally-owned businesses. The 'fifteen-by-eight challenge starts Monday.
The goal is to get a thousand people to pledge they'll spend 15 dollars a week for eight weeks at Lansing area businesses that would generate $120,000 dollars into the mid-Michigan economy.
