Jackson's Underworld Extreme Haunted House Opens for the Season
In its fourth year, Jackson's Underworld Extreme Haunted House is prepared to scare thousands of people in mid-Michigan.
The attraction comes from the owners of The Homer Mill, which burned down in a fire in 2010. Since then, the owners have put their energy into adding to and expanding Jackson's Underworld.
"The haunt," as owner Lance Cuffle call it, features close to a half mile and two floors of creepy rooms, hallways, twists and turns. The building, located at 1318 Wildwood Avenue, began as a factory, and was also the site of a furniture store before being converted into Jackon's Underworld.
Members of the team help to maintain the haunt year-round, making improvements to areas and frequently coming up with new ideas to scare even the most seasoned veteran.
At the entrance of the haunt, patrons can see a dry erase board that tallies the number of people who have thrown up, peed their pants, or lost their shoes during the course of the haunted house. Shoes left behind - mostly flip flop sandals - are nailed to the wall near the entrance as a token of those too scared to find where their shoes went.
Jackson's Underworld opens for business Friday, September 28th, and expands its schedule in October through Halloween, Wednesday, October 31st. Click here for a complete list of dates.
The haunted house and box office open at 7:00PM, and remain open until 11:00PM Monday through Thursday and Sundays, 1:00AM Fridays and Saturdays. However, Jackson's Underworld will not close down until the last group has gone through the attraction.
It takes between 30-40 minutes to complete the trip through Jackson's Underworld, and costs $20 a person on any given night. Jackson's Underworld is not suitable for children under 12 or those with heart conditions.
The owners of Jackson's Underworld gave some of the FOX 47 team the opportunity to go through the haunt the day before opening. As you can see, everyone survived, but not without plenty of sweat and screams.
