Delta Township Teen Charged with Armed Robbery
A Delta Township teenager is in jail, accused of robbing a gas station at gunpoint.
18-year-old Jayland Michael McKellar was arraigned Wednesday. He's charged with armed robbery, felony firearm, resisting police and possession of a stolen firearm.
McKellar is the suspect in the robbery of a Shell gas station at the intersection of Waverly and Old Lansing Road early Tuesday morning.
A car matching the description of the car used in the robbery was spotted by an Eaton County sheriff's deputy shortly after the hold up and not far from the gas station.
When the car was pulled over, McKellar jumped out and ran a short distance before being apprehended by deputies. A bar of cash was found in the car.
Investigators also determined the car and the gun used in the robbery were stolen. McKellar is facing additional charges of home invasion and driving a stolen car.
