Meridian Township Deer Hunt Starts this Weekend
Meridian Township's deer hunt will start this Saturday. Forty-five bow hunters have been selected to thin the herd that roam the township.
The deer have become traffic hazards on township streets and destroy homeowners' vegetation.
One or two hunters will be assigned to one of 18 township owned properties, all parks and land preserves.
They will be well off the trails, in tree stands, shooting down as the deer pass beneath. Bait piles will be used to attract the deer.
All hunters have been qualified by bow experts at MSU's Demmer Center and have passed background checks.
Forty-three deer were taken during last year's hunt.
