Update: Victims Names Released in Fatal 127 Accident

DeWitt Township police tell us a married couple died Tuesday in the fatal truck accident on US 127.

Larry Salzwedel (48) and and his wife Wilda (55) from Elsie, were traveling on US 127 when their truck crossed over the median and hit a van traveling in the opposite direction.

The man driving the Van was also killed in the accident. Robert Cooley (68) from Lansing was a retired school teacher.

Police are still investigating the accident, they don't believe drugs or alcohol are a factor.


 

DeWITT TOWNSHIP - Three people were killed in a vehicle crash on U.S.-127 north of Lansing.

A pickup truck heading northbound crossed the median and struck a van south of the Round Lake Road exit. DeWitt Township Police Chief Brian Russell tells us that the man and woman inside the pickup truck were killed as well as the driver of the van.

The southbound lane was closed for five hours while police cleared the scene.
