Report: Westboro Church Plans Picket of Corunna Soldier's Funeral
Just weeks after the death of Army Pfc. Shane Cantu in Afghanistan, the controversial Westboro Baptist Church has announced they plan to picket his funeral in Corunna, set for this afternoon at 5:00PM.
According to a report from MLive, "a press release from the Topeka, Kansas-based church states 'We will picket their funerals in their home towns in respectful and lawful proximity thereto' before listing Cantu among six funerals for fallen service members they plan to protest."
Cantu's funeral will be held at Corunna High School's football field.
Local outlets and members of the community are urging people to come to the funeral as a counterprotest to shield the funeral from the Westboro picketers.
