Capital Area Down Syndrome Association Holds Event at Zoo
The Capital Area Down Syndrome Association raised awareness at the Potter Park Zoo Sunday.
This was the association's tenth year hosting a party to raise money and awareness about Down Syndrome.
The Jungle Party event included free admission to the zoo and free activities for kids. We caught up with the planner of the event, and she explained why raising awareness in the community is so important.
"I think it's important to the community, not just for Down Syndrome, but to create awareness that there are people out there with different needs and people that need different resources for different things. And that people are more alike than different, no matter what their special needs are," said Lorri Hathaway.
