UPDATE: Suspect Charged in Lansing's Most Recent Murder
LANSING - Kelvin Monroe Bates, 24, has been charged with 5 felonies in the shooting death of a man on Lansing's north side last Friday. Bates is charged with open murder, assault with intent to murder, 2 counts of carrying a concealed weapon, and one county of felony firearm. He faces a potential sentence of life in prison.
Bates was arrested without incident around 11:10 Wednesday morning in the 1000 block of Woodale Lane in Eaton County.
Police say Bates shot Micah Arnold several times Friday night in the 3100 block of Turner Street. He died less than two hours later at a nearby hospital.
Lansing Police have arrested the person of interest they were looking for in regards to last week's deadly shooting in Lansing.
24-year-old Kelvin Bates was arrested without incident around 11:10 Wednesday morning in the 1000 block of Woodale Lane in Eaton County.
Bates is expected to be charged with several felonies. Police expect to have him arraigned sometime Thursday.
Micah Arnold was found covered in blood, having been shot several times in the 3100 block of Turner Street on Friday, August 31. He died less than two hours later at a nearby hospital.
