Updated: Man Charged With Murder in Infant's Death
A Portland man has been arraigned on charges of child abuse and murder following the death of his 3-month-old son.
Keith Thibeault was in the Ionia County District Court today, for the death of his son Everett, who died in March.
Authorities say Everett's twin brother, Keegan, was also injured by the father.
It's not yet clear if additional charges will be coming for those allegations.
Thibeault faces a preliminary hearing on September 19.
Keith Thibeault of Portland is expected to be arraigned today on one count of felony murder and one count of child abuse in the first degree.
His three-month-old son Everette died at Sparrow Hospital back in March. Authorities say Thibeault's twin sons were in his care at the time of death.
Court documents obtained by WOOD-TV show baby Everette had multiple injuries on his body, including a rib fracture, and injuries to his brain. He was also bleeding from the liver, stomach, and lung.
According to those documents, doctors discovered several of Everette's injuries were older, including a broken rib that happened weeks before his death.
Doctors say there were injuries to Everette's twin brother Keegan as well.
The twins' mother, Nicole Thibeault, says she thought she was living a normal life until this happened. She was not charged.
Nicole Thibeault has filed for divorce from her husband, and wants it made perfectly clear that she does not support him.
Her son Keegan was removed from the home shortly after his twin brother's death. He is being cared for by a family member. Nicole is allowed supervised visits, but Keith is not allowed to see him.
Keith Thibeault faces up to life in prison if convicted of the charges against him. He is expected to be arraigned today.
