Aid to Those Displaced by Apartment Fire
LANSING - The Red Cross says a dozen units have been affected by Friday morning's fire at the Friendship Manor apartments in Lansing.
Many of the residents are elderly with medical conditions and limited mobility. The City of Lansing brought in two buses for those evacuated to serve as a climate controlled environment until other shelter could be arranged.
Sparrow Hospital pitched in, donating breakfasts that the Red Cross delivered to residents and first responders.
Fire officials tell us that the majority of the damage was contained to one apartment, but the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors had to be evacuated. 27 apartments have some form of water and smoke damage.
