Day of Free Dental Care Highlights Need for Volunteer Dentists in Lansing
Dozens of people who can't afford a trip to the dentist are no doubt feeling a lot better after some much-needed dental work Thursday.
The Care Free Medical and Dental Clinic in Lansing treated 80 of the nearly 150 people who were in line to receive free dental care as part of the "Caring Hands Dental Day." A majority of the work involved pulling teeth and filling cavities.
The nearly 70 people who weren't seen got vouchers to return for treatment at another time.
Events like this really highlight the need for more volunteer dentists. The Care Free clinic currently has a waiting list of nearly 800 people. If you're a dentist and can volunteer, even for just a few hours a month, call the clinic at (517) 272 - 5053.
People wanting to be seen need to meet Care Free Dental's enrollment requirements, found on the clinic's website at www.carefreemedical.org.
